TUV Responds to Ballymurphy Inquiry Call

Statement by Ards TUV councilor and former security force member Terry Williams:

“Peter Robinson’s decision to accept the findings of the Saville Inquiry in their entirety has predictably helped open the floodgates for Republicans. Today’s call for an investigation into Ballymurphy is yet another attempt to investigate a select number of deaths so that Republicans can continue their efforts to re-write the history of the Troubles.

“Why doesn’t Gerry Adams call for an investigation into Bloody Friday or La Mon?

“The truth is that Saville or an inquiry like the one demanded today will never be about obtaining justice or truth. Republicans see it as a means of providing justification for the IRA's campaign of terror.

“Shame on co-First Minister Robinson for accepting Saville in its entirety while remaining wedded politically to the man who Saville found probably carried a machine gun on Bloody Sunday!”
