Statement by TUV Castlereagh by-election candidate Ann Cooper:

“With all the fuss surrounding the general election it is easy to forget that there is an other election taking place tomorrow – the council by-election in Castlereagh to fill the vacancy left by disgraced DUP MP, MLA and councillor, Iris Robinson.

“Under Robinson rule Castlereagh has become characterised by lack of openness and excessive development. If elected I will seek an end to excessive development and an addressing of local concerns surrounding roads, policing and social housing.

“I share and understand ordinary people’s outrage at the scandals which have enveloped politics in the council. I want to shake things up and offer people a fresh face and a fresh start in the council.”
