Commenting on DUP Group Leader Jimmy Spratt’s view that a by-election in Castlereagh Borough Council is unnecessary, TUV East Belfast Westminster candidate David Vance said:

“Mr Spratt appears to have overlooked  the reason why there is a by-election in Castlereagh so permit me to remind him that it was the scandalous behaviour of his DUP colleague Iris Robinson leading to her resignation that made this essential. The people must be allowed to pass judgment on the DUP even if it offends Mr Spratt. He urges voters to punish those who caused this by-election. I agree. Let the voters punish the DUP who are wholly responsible for the this by-election and a strong vote for TUV Council candidate Ann Cooper is the very best way for those disgusted at the antics of the DUP  to register their feelings. We need a fresh start in Castlereagh Borough Council – not just more of the same.”
