Reduction of Police Provision in East Belfast

Responding to the proposals from the PSNI to reduce the opening hours of Willowfield Police Station, which serves residents of the  East Belfast constituency, to only six hours a week, TUV East Belfast Westminster candidate David Vance said:

“This decision to further reduce policing provision in East Belfast is deeply disturbing and is further evidence of the impotence of the DUP to provide the people of this area with the police presence they need. Lord Browne expresses DUP “concern” over this run down of Willowfield Police Station whilst conveniently forgetting that the DUP has boasted that it has delivered effective policing. He can’t have it both ways and the facts on the ground are simple. The Police presence in East Belfast has been diminishing on the DUP watch and TUV says enough.  Having gone along with the wholesale run down of our Police Stations, the DUP now prepares to hand over control of policing and justice to a puppet Justice Minister whose every action is subject to Sinn Fein/IRA veto. In what way does this provide community confidence in law and order?”
