Traditional Unionist Voice leader Jim Allister has expressed his shock at the death of Mourne TUV member Hugh McKnight in last night’s light aircraft accident.

Mr Allister said:

“I am deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Mr McKnight. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad time. Hugh worked hard for the party in the run-up to the European elections and represented us at Annalong Primary School on polling day. The manner of his passing has shocked TUV members across the Province”.

Mourne TUV chairman George McConnell also offered his condolences to the family:

“Hugh was well known and respected in Annalong and Kilkeel. His passing will be felt not just by his family but by the local TUV branch were he played an important part. I would assure his family of our prayerful and practical support at this time.

“We are also deeply saddened by the tragic deaths of two other young men in the accident. Their passing will have a profound impact upon their families which we cannot begin to imagine”.
