TUV Praise Ulster Bands Forum

South Antrim TUV press officer, Nigel Kells has praised the Ulster Bands Forum for their continued commitment to the promotion of Ulster band culture.
Commenting Mr Kells stated:
“In Northern Ireland today we have over 620 marching bands consisting of no fewer than 30,000 members, watched and supported by an estimated 140,000 former members and countless supporters. During 2011 around 1,500 parades and 450 indoor events took place across our wee country providing one of the most wonderful, colourful cultural displays in the world.
This is only possible through the hard work and dedication of band members, the support of the Loyal Orders and the background help that Voluntary organisations such as the Ulster Bands Forum put in. The organisation involved in both indoor events that are currently in full swing and band parades on the road between March and September is extraordinary.
It seems unfathomable that this quite amazing year round display is not fully advertised to the world by the tourist board. Indeed, we are the only country that has this unique, free, family friendly, cultural display and I think it is time it got the recognition and advertisement it deserves both at home and abroad.
In the mean time I would encourage supporters of our unique cultural heritage to support the scene through your continued attendance at parades and events. Information on all upcoming parades and events is available free on the Ulster Bands Forum www.ulsterbandsforum.net and all band members and band supporters are encouraged to join.”
