TUV Cllr Roy Gillespie has urged local community groups to apply for grants worth up to £10,000 for environmental projects.
The Green Grants initiative is organised by the Green Insurance Company and is offering local communities throughout the UK the opportunity to apply for funding to help support local environmental projects.
Commenting on the funding initiative Cllr Gillespie stated;
“I understand that one grant of £10,000 is being offered for a special environmental project and that there are a further fifteen individual grants worth up to £2000 available.
The initiative is designed to help to promote sustainable living in local communities and raise awareness of the company brand for the eco-conscious consumer.
I would therefore encourage local groups to apply for the available funding if they are considering undertaking an environmental project.
There can be no doubt that as energy prices continue to spiral upwards during a time of economic recession that innovative projects designed to reduce both costs to consumers and to the environment should be encouraged.”
Gordon Ross, The Green Insurance Company’s Green Grants spokesperson, said:
“We were amazed by the response to the Green Grants initiative last year, and wanted to do something even bigger in 2011. The £10,000 grant could fund a great local environmental initiative while the £30,000 of smaller grants will ensure we are able to help projects all across the UK. We’re excited to see the applications which come in.”
The Green Insurance Company has set up an easy-to-use online application form available at http://www.greeninsurancegiving.co.uk/grants.php and is inviting applications up until 30th November 2011.
