The Fermanagh branch of Traditional Unionist Voice held its Annual General Meeting on Friday 6th March in Enniskillen District Hall.

The officers elected for the incoming year were Samuel Morrison (chairman), Stephen Irwin (secretary) and Trevor Elliot (treasurer). The election of officers was presided over by the chairman of the Mid Ulster branch of TUV, Walter Miller, who also addressed the meeting.

Mr Miller congratulated the officer team on their election and complimented the branch on its highly successful fundraising efforts over the past year. He then turned to the challenges which lay ahead for the party, chief among them the European election in June in which sitting MEP Jim Allister will seek to retain his seat.

Mr Miller said:
“Traditional Unionist Voice occupies ground which has been forsaken by others. While other Unionists have opened the door to Sinn Fein/IRA in government, TUV remains resolutely opposed to Republicanism. We believe that there should be no place for those who advocated, supported and in some cases perpetrated violence in the government of our Province.

“Before Unionists vote in the European election they need to ask themselves where the various Unionist parties will be after the votes are counted. Sadly the answer with regards to all but Traditional Unionists is round the Executive table with three convicted terrorists. A first preference vote for the Democratic Unionists will only serve to prop up Sinn Fein/IRA in government. A vote for Jim Allister, the most capable candidate in the field, will send a clear message that the stream of concessions has to stop.

“Unionists should remember what the letters DUP stand for – Devolution Under Provos. Is that what they want?”

Business closed with the singing of the National Anthem following which a beautiful supper was served by some of the ladies in the branch.
