TUV Comment on Launch of Sinn Fein's Easter Lily Campaign

Commenting on the launch of Sinn Fein/IRA’s Easter lily campaign today the TUV’s East Londonderry Assembly candidate Boyd Douglas said:

“Sinn Fein have once again demonstrated that they are wedded to terrorism. In spite of the claims of some it is evident that Republicans remain unrepentant about their murderous pedigree.

“Adams’ claim that the Easter lily is an “emblem of unity” would be laughable were the issues involved not so serious. The Easter lily has always been a symbol worn by those who wish to laud and honour men who slaughtered innocent civilians because of their religion and members of the security forces whose only crime was having the bravery to seek to defend all sections of the community in Northern Ireland from murderous attack.

“Adams calls upon people to remember the “patriot dead with pride” but I have no hesitation in saying that the likes of Shankill bomber Begley – whose coffin Adams carried -  are not people to be proud of.

“Indeed, the entire blood-soaked history of Republicanism deserves to be repudiated, not lauded and celebrated.

“Let us not forget either that the structures of the Belfast Agreement – terrorist inclusive government, multiple North/South bodies, etc. – aid Sinn Fein/IRA in their campaign to move towards the united Ireland Adams talked about today.

“It is only by voting TUV in the upcoming election that Unionists will be able to put the breaks on this process”.
