Halliday Condemns Attempt to Sanitize Terror Centre

Statement by TUV Newry and Armagh Assembly candidate Barrie Halliday:
“I was disgusted to learn today that the notorious Ti Chulainn Centre was used for the last meeting of the Southern Local Commissioning Group, a committee of the regional Health and Social Care Board.
“Given that the Ti Chulainn Centre has an adjacent IRA shrine and was the place where shocking photographs of children posing with guns was taken, I cannot think of a less suitable venue for a body charged with securing “better and more effective service for the community” to meet.
“After all, the events which are so openly celebrated at the Ti Chulainn Centre have given many health professionals an awful lot of work to do down through the years and have caused countless nights of heartache in the hospital wards of the area.
“It seems apparent to me that the spotlight which victims have turned on the Ti Chulainn Centre has had an impact and there is now an attempt to sanitize the place.
“I would call upon the Southern Local Commissioning Group to state clearly that this venue will not be used again for their meetings. I also believe that an apology to the innocent victims of Republican violence should be issued.”
