TUV Hits Out at Moyle Council Money for Hunger Strike Event

Statement by TUV Moyle Council candidate Sharon McKillop:
“It is hard to think of anything more ironic than awarding a Good Relations Grant to an exhibition on the Hunger Strikes yet that is exactly what Moyle Council has done.
“In a time of economic hardship it is more important than ever that rate payers know that they are getting value for money but in this instance the council has not just wasted money but allocated it to something which will cause deep offense and hurt to the substantial Unionist population which lives within the Moyle Council area.
“Far from promoting good relations an exhibition celebrating the exploits of convicted terrorists, whose only claim to fame is that they committed serial suicide in the Maze, will only foster division.
“Incidents such as this highlight the folly of those who argue that Republicanism has change and is interested in accommodation with Unionists. It is exactly the sort of thing which I will be highlighting and fighting against should I prove successful in my campaign for a seat on Moyle council.”
